PNC Names New Regional President For Central Illinois Market

PEORIA, IL, Feb. 24, 2017 – PNC Bank, N.A., today named Brian Ray regional president for Central Illinois. Ray, who is currently senior vice president of commercial banking in the Akron (OH) market, succeeds Doug Stewart. Stewart will retire June 30, after 44 years with PNC.

Cestello, executive vice president and head of PNC’s Regional Markets. “Brian brings a continued commitment to delivering our Main Street values and will serve this community in the locally-focused way for which PNC is known.”

Ray brings to his new role more than 21 years of experience in banking, business administration and marketing. He joined PNC Bank in 2003, leading a commercial banking team in Akron. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Criminology from Ohio University and an MBA from University of Massachusetts.  

Stewart, whose career at PNC began in 1973, became Central Illinois regional president in 1997.  He has performed a number of community leadership roles, including serving as co-chair with his wife Vicky of the Heart of Illinois United Way Campaign that raised a record sum for the region’s social services program. He also spent 10 years on the Board of Trustees at Illinois Central College. He currently serves as chair of the Board of Trustees at Bradley University.  Other organizations with which Stewart has been involved include the Bielfeldt Foundation, OSF Healthcare System the Peoria Riverfront Museum, The Children’s Home and the CEO Council.

“Doug has provided strong leadership during his 44-year career through many economic cycles and transitions, with a steady focus on building strong customer relationships and maintaining an engaged team of bankers,” Cestello said.  “Doug is well-respected throughout the business community and we appreciate the many contributions he has made to this region and the bank.”

Stewart and Ray will work closely over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition for the bank’s clients and community partners.
