PNC Bank Launches First PNC Achievers Program in South Florida With University of Miami Athletics

MIAMI, Sept. 26, 2022 – PNC Bank is launching its first PNC Achievers program in South Florida with University of Miami Athletics. The program will recognize 18 student-athletes during the 2022-23 academic year who, in addition to athletic abilities, exemplify success in the classroom, in the community and on campus.

PNC Achievers, currently active at 20 schools and universities across the country, is the latest signature program to come to Miami as the company expands its presence in the market. The program underscores the importance PNC places on education and community service and positions the bank as an advocate for students throughout their college journey and beyond.

“We’re excited to recognize the best students who are also great athletes at the University of Miami with this prestigious honor,” said Cressman Bronson, PNC regional president for southeast Florida. “Our goal is to support well-rounded student-athletes – ‘the true over achievers’ - who will likely succeed in all facets of life and who will forge strong communities beyond college.”

The selection criteria require each student to have distinguished themselves through academic achievement, community service and student leadership outside of their chosen sports, to be selected and recognized as a PNC Achiever during the fall, winter, and spring seasons.

“We are excited to partner with PNC and have the opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of Hurricanes student-athletes both on and off the field,” said Chris Maragno, SVP of Hurricane Global Partnerships.

This inaugural year, the University of Miami will select a group of student-athletes to recognize for the PNC Achievers’ Program. From that list, one male and one female student-athlete will be chosen as that semester’s PNC Achiever to be recognized at an in-game ceremony and on social media.

“We hope University of Miami student-athletes consider the PNC Achievers program a major accomplishment within their academic careers and a recognition that incoming underclassmen strive to attain,” Bronson added.
