HOUSTON, March 31, 2023 – PNC Bank debuts a new dedicated mobile banking unit in the greater Houston area. The 30-foot “branch on wheels” will help make banking easier and more accessible for customers who can’t travel to a traditional brick-and-mortar bank branch.
At the mobile branch, customers can meet with a personal banker, open a checking account, apply for a personal loan, credit card or mortgage, or receive or replace a PNC debit card. The unit also features a private meeting room for personal discussions and a self-service ATM.
“We know there are communities in the Houston area that have limited access to a bank or financial services,” said Julie Young-Sudduth, PNC regional president for Houston. “PNC is working closely with organizations that have strong roots in our region to provide secure, access to banking for Houston residents and help everyone move forward financially.”
The mobile branch will make dedicated stops in multiple communities, where PNC community bankers will help coordinate financial wellness initiatives for residents and community partners. These initiatives will include educational seminars and tools to help customers make informed financial decisions such as understanding credit reports and credit history, affordable homeownership options, tactics to raise money-smart kids, wealth-building strategies and other crucial foundations of money management.
“PNC has a strong commitment to the communities we serve,” said Michele Byrd, vice president and PNC Community Development Banking officer for the Houston market. “The Mobile Branch program, aligned with PNC’s $88 Billion Community Benefits Plan, allows us to go directly to historically underserved neighborhoods and provide information and services that will help individuals and communities take steps toward meeting their financial goals. We are fortunate to partner with organizations in the Third, Fifth and Sixth Ward of Houston that have longstanding commitments to serve and empower residents by providing financial services.”
PNC Bank has teamed with nine community organizations and set a monthly route with repeating stops scheduled across the greater Houston area. Spanish-speaking bankers are available in the mobile branch with Spanish-language materials on board.
Houston is the sixth market to feature a dedicated PNC Mobile Branch. The program debuted in 2020 in Chicago, expanded into Detroit in 2021, and last year to Baltimore and Dallas. Earlier this year, mobile branches arrived in Atlanta and now Houston.
