The 30-foot “branch on wheels” is first in the region, offers financial resources, education in underserved areas
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Oct. 8, 2025 – PNC Bank officially debuted its mobile branch program in Birmingham across several areas, underscoring PNC’s commitment to positively impacting the communities it serves by making banking easier and more accessible.
The 30-foot branch on wheels allows existing and prospective PNC Bank customers in underserved areas to conduct banking transactions, such as opening accounts and applying for loans, in the same way they would at a traditional branch. In addition to providing essential banking services, the PNC mobile branch will engage in meaningful conversations with customers to learn about their goals and provide them with financial education tailored to their needs.
“Bringing PNC’s mobile branch to Birmingham is a testament to our dedication to building brilliant communities through financial empowerment and wellness education,” said Nick Willis, PNC regional president for Alabama. “By integrating the mobile branch across the city and complementing our already extensive brick-and-mortar branch network, we’re expanding our community impact and deepening our commitment to bringing essential banking services to those who need it most. This initiative goes beyond traditional banking; we’re meeting people where they live and work.”
The mobile branch will rotate among several locations, including Bundles of Hope Diaper Bank, Alabama Goodwill Industries, The Dannon Project and Daniel Payne Legacy Village, with the goal of visiting several additional community locations each week.
Among the banking services that can be conducted in the mobile branch are:
- Meeting with a personal banker for tailored financial guidance
- Opening a checking account
- Applying for a personal loan, credit card or mortgage
- Receiving or replacing a PNC debit card
- Receiving assistance with digital services
Birmingham is the 11th market across PNC’s coast-to-coast footprint to host a PNC mobile branch. Other cities include Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Cleveland and Houston. In each market, PNC coordinates with community organizations to help deliver localized financial wellness initiatives for residents. The initiatives include educational seminars as well as financial tips and tools to help individuals address important topics, such as the foundations of money management.
The mobile branch program aligns with PNC’s efforts to bolster economic opportunity for low- and moderate-income people and neighborhoods across its footprint.
