PNC Bank, N.A., a member of The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. (NYSE: PNC), today announced the appointment of William Scales as senior vice president and chief information officer of its Treasury Management division.

In this newly created position, Scales will be responsible for the technology-related strategy and systems that support the ninth largest provider of treasury management services in the nation.

Scales has extensive experience as a management and information systems executive with more than 20 years experience in the banking and financial services industry. He was most recently vice president of Information Technology and chief operating officer for Principal Capital, a member company of the Principal Financial Group. Previously, Scales served as senior vice president and group executive of securities operations for Wachovia Corporation.
He earned a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration from Livingstone College in 1976. In addition, he has completed management/executive programs at Duke University and the University of North Carolina. Scales has been very active in civic organizations, including the United Way, Junior Achievement and YMCA. His professional affiliations include Executive Leadership Council, Information Technology Senior Manager Forum and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
