BOWLING GREEN, Ohio, June 28, 2010 – Bowling Green State University (BGSU) and PNC Bank, National Association, announced today a new university banking relationship with an emphasis on money management and financial education for the more than 24,000 students, faculty and staff at BGSU.
As part of this arrangement, PNC will work with BGSU’s Student Money Management Services to provide free financial education for the campus community. PNC and BGSU will collaborate on budgeting and money management workshops as part of the BGSU First Year Success Series, designed to help students learn to better track, monitor and manage their finances.
“PNC’s commitment to financial education allows us to build on our own proven money management programming,” said Brad Leigh, executive director of business operations, BGSU. “Through this relationship, we are able to provide the BGSU campus community with convenient access to the banking tools and services that students need to help put enhanced financial awareness into practice.”
The relationship will also include a new electronic financial services center, opening in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union. The services center will include an on-site customer service representative and two advanced function ATMs, capable of accepting deposits and cashing checks down to the dollar.
Other features include:
- Personal banking products and services including Virtual WalletSM Student, an online banking solution specially designed to help college students help themselves with money management, along with mobile and text banking options.
- A total of five on-campus ATMs, including locations in the electronic financial services center (2), second floor of the Bowen-Thompson Student Union, Founders Hall and McDonald Hall.
- A co-branded PNC Bank Visa® Check Card, available to any PNC customer, to be used at ATMs and to make purchases anywhere Visa is accepted.
- Students and employees will have the option to link their BG1 identification card to PNC accounts beginning in the fall of 2011, adding ATM and purchasing functionality to campus cards used for daily activities such as entering residence halls, checking out library books and accessing meal plans
- Customized web sites at www.pnc.com/bgsu, hosted by PNC, where students will be able to complete account applications and find financial and educational information.
- One free incoming wire transfer per monthly statement cycle and one free courtesy overdraft fee waiver on the first non-sufficient funds incident during the 12 months after account opening.
