RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 13, 2016 -- The PNC Foundation today announced that it will donate $100,000 to the American Red Cross to support disaster relief efforts for Hurricane Matthew victims in Eastern North Carolina.
The PNC Foundation has a history of supporting communities in times of need. In the past, it has provided disaster relief grants in response to domestic floods. Through its efforts with agencies such as the American Red Cross, it supports caring organizations whose expertise provides immediate assistance to residents in affected areas.
“The devastating flooding over the past several days has been relentless and affected many people in our community,” said Jim Hansen, PNC regional president for Eastern Carolinas, speaking on behalf of the Foundation. “We hope this donation from PNC will help ease the burden for many of our neighbors.”
The PNC Foundation, which receives its principal funding from The PNC Financial Services Group (NYSE: PNC), actively supports organizations that provide services for the benefit of communities in which it has a significant presence. The foundation focuses its philanthropic mission on early childhood education and community and economic development, which includes the arts and culture.
