PNC Bank to Provide Personal Banking Services to Grove City College Students and Employees

Grove City, Pa, Sept. 2, 2010 – Grove City College and PNC Bank, National Association, announced today a new university banking relationship with an emphasis on money management and financial education for the more than 2,900 students, faculty and staff at Grove City College.

As part of this arrangement, PNC will host financial literacy workshops for students and employees on the Grove City College campus. Topics covered will include basic banking, credit management, savings and investing, identity protection and home buying.

Students and employees will also have the option to link their Grove City College photo identification card to PNC accounts beginning in January 2011, adding ATM and purchasing functionality to campus cards used for daily activities such as entering residence halls, checking out library books and accessing meal plans.

“This relationship enables us to enrich our existing financial education programming with proven PNC resources, including workshops and award-winning tools like Virtual Wallet Student,” said Roger Towle, vice president for Financial Affairs, Grove City College. “And with a new advanced-function ATM on campus, online banking and expanded ID card functionality, we will be able to provide our students and employees with convenient access to their money whether they are on- or off-campus.”

The relationship will also feature:

  • Personal banking products and services including Virtual Wallet® Student, an online banking solution specially designed to help college students help themselves with money management, along with mobile banking options.
  • An advanced function ATM in the Breen Student Union, capable of cashing checks down to the dollar, available in September.
  • A co-branded PNC Bank Visa® Check Card to be used at ATMs and to make purchases anywhere Visa is accepted, available in 2011 to any PNC customer.
  • Customized web sites at www.pnc.com/gcc, hosted by PNC, where students will be able to complete account applications and find financial and educational information.
  • One free incoming wire transfer per monthly statement cycle and one free courtesy overdraft fee waiver on the first non-sufficient funds incident during the 12 months after account opening.

“With a branch less than a mile from campus, PNC is already a trusted member of the Grove City campus community,” said Marlene Mosco, regional president, PNC Bank, northwestern Pa. “We are excited to build on that relationship by providing students, faculty and staff with the banking solutions and knowledge they need to achieve their money management goals at school and at home.”
