PNC Bank to Provide Personal Banking Services to Florida Tech Students and Employees

MELBOURNE, FLA., Feb. 22, 2011—Florida Institute of Technology and PNC Bank, National Association, announced today a new university banking relationship with an emphasis on money management and financial education for the more than 9,000 students, faculty and staff at Florida Tech.

As part of this arrangement, PNC will host financial literacy workshops for students and employees on the Florida Tech campus. Topics covered will include basic banking, credit management, savings and investing, identity protection and home buying.

The relationship will also include an automated refund option through PNC’s Payment Portal, providing students with fast, automated access to school-administered refunds via a delivery method of their choosing, such as direct deposit, paper check or prepaid VISA® stored value card.

“With PNC’s innovative products and services, like Virtual Wallet® Student, and the new automated refund system, this relationship helps us to give our students and employees easier and more convenient access to their money, while at the same time making our own administrative processes more efficient and cost-effective,” said Florida Tech President Anthony J. Catanese.

Other features include:

  • The option for students and employees to link their Florida Tech Panther Card to PNC accounts, adding ATM and purchasing functionality to campus cards used for daily activities such as entering residence halls, checking out library books and accessing meal plans.
  • Personal banking products and services including Virtual Wallet® Student, an online banking solution specially designed to help college students help themselves with money management, along with mobile and text banking options.
  • An advanced function ATM in the Denius Student Center, capable of cashing checks down to the dollar, and an additional cash dispensing ATM convenient to student housing.
  • Customized web sites at www.pnc.com/fit, hosted by PNC, where students will be able to complete account applications and find financial and educational information.
  • One free incoming wire transfer per monthly statement cycle and one free courtesy overdraft fee waiver on the first non-sufficient funds incident during the 12 months after account opening.
