EAST BRUNSWICK, April 15, 2020 – The PNC Foundation announced it will provide $250,000 in grant funding to support the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund and as part of the Jersey 4 Jersey fundraising drive. Hosted by the Community Foundation of New Jersey and established by Tammy Murphy, New Jersey’s First Lady, this new nonprofit organization is dedicated to concentrating resources across the state to identify critical needs and fight the economic and social impact of COVID-19 on New Jersey’s vulnerable communities.
“This is an amazing way to start our ‘Jersey 4 Jersey’ fundraising effort,” said Tammy Murphy, First Lady of New Jersey and founder of the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund. “This donation will go a long way towards helping those most impacted by the pandemic in New Jersey. We are so grateful for PNC’s generosity and look forward to this being just the start of our ‘Jersey 4 Jersey’ effort which broadcasts Wed., April 22, featuring some of New Jersey’s top names and talent.”
This donation to the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund is part of a broader commitment announced by The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. to provide $30 million in charitable contributions in support of coronavirus relief efforts, primarily directed toward basic needs and hardship relief programs across the markets in which PNC operates.
“The fast-growing resources of the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund and the well-established infrastructure of the Community Foundation of New Jersey are a shining example of how our state comes together to provide essential support to families and communities as quickly as possible,” said Linda Bowden, PNC regional president for New Jersey. “Now, more than ever, in these challenging times we remain committed to supporting those who may be struggling in the places where we live and work.”
PNC’s funding to address the COVID-19 crisis, which will be disbursed throughout 2020, is coordinated by the PNC Foundation and PNC's Office of the Regional Presidents, building on the company's legacy of philanthropic support in the communities it serves. Market-specific funding is focused on ensuring grant support that provides the greatest local impact in the areas of food insecurity and shelter, early education and online resources that enhance access to information, programs and tools for those in need.
