Both local executives have been instrumental in PNC’s continued growth in the Western Carolinas
CHARLOTTE, July 16, 2026 – PNC Bank announced today that Weston Andress will retire Aug. 31, 2026, following a distinguished 42-year career in finance, including 14 years as PNC’s first regional president of the Western Carolinas market. Charlotte-based PNC banking executive Robert (Bobby) Chesney, who has served in several regional and national executive leadership roles at PNC, will succeed Andress as regional president.
During his tenure with PNC, Andress has led the bank’s continued growth across the Western Carolinas region, which encompasses Charlotte, the Triad and Asheville, as well as Upstate South Carolina. His leadership has been integral to helping clients achieve business and financial success, while also driving strategic community investments that help make the nation’s second-largest banking center a better place to live and work. This includes his notable leadership in advocating for increased access to high-quality early childhood education as an economic imperative and shaping critical support for some of the region’s most impactful arts and cultural institutions, including the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Foundation, Blumenthal Arts and the Mint Museum.
Prior to joining PNC in 2012, Andress held executive leadership roles at Carr Properties and Colonial Properties Trust, as well as various investment banking and executive positions at Bank of America and Salomon Brothers.
“Weston’s unwavering focus on serving our clients, communities and colleagues is at the core of PNC’s continued growth in a region known for its fiercely competitive banking environment,” said Jim Hansen, Southeast territory executive for PNC. “Bobby and the local market team will continue to build on that strong foundation, including plans to open nearly 40 new branches in Charlotte, the Triad and Asheville by 2030.”
Chesney brings 34 years of banking experience, including 28 years with PNC and predecessor institutions. He most recently served as head of Business Development for PNC’s Asset Management Group, leading business expansion and sales enablement efforts for PNC Private Bank® and PNC Institutional Asset Management® across PNC’s coast-to-coast footprint. Prior to that, Chesney served clients throughout the Carolinas and Southeast as a Commercial Banking market leader and executive, and he was actively involved in the integration of BBVA USA following its 2021 acquisition by PNC.
A Charlotte native, Chesney has served on Blumenthal Arts’ board of trustees, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Foundation’s board, the Charlotte Chamber’s executive committee and as chair of Communities In Schools of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Inc.’s board.
“Bobby has devoted his career to helping clients succeed, while building high-performing teams,” said Hansen. “We’re confident that Bobby’s leadership will define the next chapter of our growth story in the Western Carolinas.”
